The bridge impact test is performed on elongated packages per Amazon Ships In Own Container (SIOC) standards. Testing is performed using the free fall drop tester, support blocks and a concentrated edge hazard box. The free fall tester is a pneumatic-powered shelf comprised of two sides that simultaneously open to drop the product as evenly as possible. The support blocks are 3.5 to 4.0 inches in height and width and at least eight inches longer than the longest package dimension to be supported. The concentrated edge hazard box is a 12 inch by 12 inch by 12 inch wooden box with a total weight of nine pounds. The ballast weight is comprised of a dense flowable material in a bag or bags, held in place with a suitable void fill. The impact edge of the box is covered with angle iron. To perform the test, the device is placed on two separate support blocks on opposite ends of the longest dimensions parallel to each other. The hazard box is positioned above the product in an edge-drop orientation with the reinforced edge down. The hazard box is dropped into the center of the product from a height of 16 inches
